I could somehow not find my posting (this thread) when I returned to the Malwarebytes Forum. Thanks for the advice given in response to my question. So, for starters, I suggest that you please proceed with the suggestions in step 1) - the MBAM clean reinstall and then the diagnostic logs. Such Win10 issues would need to be addressed in a different area of the forum. It's possible (likely?) that your Win10 performance problems (and even your MBAM problems) may be related to the use of such registry cleaners.īut we cannot say without more information (e.g. There are many other such references at computer help sites all over the internet. See here: Do I need a Windows Registry Cleaner? They can cause serious system damage and should be avoided. CCleaner itself is not likely to interfere with MBAM.ģ) Registry cleaners (whether part of CCleaner or other "optimizers"/"tweakers"/"cleanup" tools) = SNAKE OIL. I don't let it touch Firefox, Thunderbird, Mailwasher Pro and certain other programs. In the case of certain 3rd-party programs, it can cause damage. Sometimes, a version update will silently change those settings. However, with each new version release, it's important to check the default settings BEFORE running it. ![]() Please report back and let us know how it goes.Ģ) CCleaner: it's a great utility for cleaning temp files and junk. To do that, please read the following and attach to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs(the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt) If that doesn't resolve the MBAM startup issue, then we would need to see a bit more info about the system. Standard troubleshooting for this issue would be a proper clean reinstall of MBAM by carefully following all the steps explained here: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x The problem I have is that Malwarebytes Premium regularly fails to run automatically when Windows 10 is started up, despite being set up to do so.ġ) Let's deal with that first, as this is MBAM support forum: We have discussed, over on the Piriform forum, taking the large registry cleaner button off the main screen and putting the reg cleaner into the tools menu - so that novice users are less tempted to run it blithely and mess up their system. Leave the reg cleaner alone unless you are having a particular problem. This will speed up your computer noticably and is probably what you are seeing anyway. Just run the normal cleaner to clear out cookies, tempory files, etc. If you do use it then always make a backup of the registry before 'fixing'. On a more general point you should not run the registry cleaner as a matter of course, it does not speed up your computer that you would notice.Īlthough CCleaners reg cleaner is one of the more 'gentle' ones, any reg cleaner can cause problems if you don't know your way around the registry. So is CCleaner showing a 'bad' registry entry linked to Malwarebytes on your setup? If yours is doing so then it would suggest that there is some problem with your installation of Malwarebytes. I have never seen CCleaner pull up a 'bad' registry entry that is linked to Malwarebytes. Is there a particular reason why you suspect CClener is causing this? ![]() Might a CCleaner registry cleaning job be responsible for this? Registry cleaning is the only reason I can think of why Malwarebytes might not start automatically.Īlso: is there a way to get Windows 10 out of difficulties leading to lagging other than running CCleaner registry cleaner? The problem I have is that Malwarebytes Premium regularly fails to run automatically when Windows 10 is started up, despite being set up to do so. Restarting Windows 10 a few times in a row sometimes helps. ![]() And I would uninstall CCleaner if there is another, better way to escape from sudden lagging and slow-down in the performance of Windows 10. I would prefer to go without any registry cleaner or system optimizer program at all. If Windows starts dragging its feet, a CCleaner registry scan and cleaning job usually solves the problem - seemingly without the steady breakdown of Windows I have experienced with other PC cleaners and optimizers. ![]() CCleaner because its registry cleaner gets me out of sudden slowdowns in the performance of Windows. I have been using both Malwarebytes (the paid version) and CCleaner (the free version) for many years.
